Gathering together - working, playing, praying, weeping and rejoicing - Gathering together is an essential part of our life in Christ. At Grace Covenant, there's always an occasion - a time to celebrate or study or share or serve. Choose from the many activities and groups. Share your gifts and make new friends. Come be engaged in this unique community of faith where all are welcome and all are called.

Events

Annual Potluck and Meeting - Each January we meet on a Sunday evening for food, fellowship and an overview of the year. Members eat in assigned Covenant Groups and get to know each other. Guests are welcome to join any group. A meeting for everyone in the sanctuary follows the meal. The meeting usually offers highlights of the year past and hopes for the year to come.

Fellowship Groups or Activities

Dinner for 7 or 8 - Meet new friends; share food and fellowship. Everyone is welcome. In August and again in January, individuals or couples sign up and are randomly partnered with others who then meet 4 times in 4 months for a meal and conversation. One person from each group convenes the group. The group then decides when and where to share a meal. Usually each individual or couple hosts one meal in their home.

Men of Grace - A dynamic group of grace-filled men gathers the second Saturday of the month for breakfast, sharing, and developing their faith through service. Service projects are a high priority for this multi-age group. The group laughs and works and grows together, supporting one another in the life of faith. And when someone has a need (moving, building, cooking a meal) - the Men of Grace are always the first to help out. The MOG keep in touch via phone and e-mail, including a joke of the week and lots of support for one another. All men are welcome.

Presbyterian Women - Grace Covenant PW is a vital and dynamic organization, associated with the PW of the denomination. Nationally PW gives strong support to the mission of the church and locally determines its own leadership, program and budget. At Grace Covenant, women may choose from 5 interesting circles who meet at various times and days. Each circle shares in fellowship, laughter, prayer, study, service, mission giving, and other activities. Each circle has its own personality and loyal membership. Together the women of PW meet several times a year for special programs and projects, and for a fabulous annual retreat. Every woman is welcome.

Young Adults - Meets periodically for fellowship, study, discussion and growth in faith. The group is still forming so come make it your own. Friends and non-members are welcome. The age range is loosely 20s and early 30s. Singles and couples attend. The group also attends social events frequently during the month.

Special Interest Groups

Bridge Night - Meets the 2nd Thursday of each month to play bridge. Members, non-members and observers are welcome. Lessons may be arranged in interested.

Grace Potpourri - This lively group meets quarterly for social activities and Christian fellowship. Members and non-members, couples and singles - everyone is welcome - though many in this group are older adults. Join them for a potluck or dinner theatre, a Christmas party or a bus tour. Activities vary, but the quality friendship and sharing remains always delightful.

Kairos [Justice, Peace & Environment] - Meets 4th Monday at 7 p.m. This group chooses topics to explore each quarter. Education and action are dual focus. Issues will be determined by group members, but may include recycling, environmental concerns, fair trade, economic justice, civil rights, peace, gambling, poverty, homelessness, and politics. The emphasis will be on making a difference and doing what we can. This group will try to link with other groups in the community working with similar interests. Everyone is welcome.

Knitting - Meets for fellowship while learning to knit and working on a project together.

Ladies Lunch Bunch - Meets every 3rd Thursday at noon for lunch and conversation. Reservations requested. Every woman is welcome.

Men's Basketball - From October to March, Sunday afternoon fun and exercise at Tomahawk Ridge. Donations are accepted to defray the cost of renting the court.

Page Turners - Gathering monthly for over 10 years, this group of avid readers welcomes newcomers every month. Once a year the gorup chooses which books to read with an effort to include diverse literature - fiction and non-fiction, mystery, biography, historical, hysterical. Each month the group gathers to discuss the book of the month, to share fellowship and stimulating conversation, and to grow together as Christian friends.

Support the Troops Group - Meets the second Sunday of each month at noon at the church. They correspond and pray for military and peacemaking personnel and their families. Occasionally, they organize collections and mailings from church members. Everyone is welcome.

YaYa Sisterhood - Meets quarterly in homes. This group of women over 40 loves to laugh, eat and share glimpses into their lives. There's no agenda and there's always a good time. Members and non-members are welcome. New sisters are always encouraged to attend.

Yoga - Faith Yoga Plus Classes - Offered on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 9:30 - 10:45, and Saturday mornings at 9:00. Hatha Yoga combined with Pilates class will consist of healing, flowing Yoga poses plus 20 minutes of Pilates with focus on abs and back. The end of class is the best part where they focus on breath and meditation, a scripture reading followed with a spiritual message. Friends and non-members are welcome.

Study Enrichment Groups

Couples Enrichment Small Groups - Two groups of couples gather monthly to share fellowship, to nurture their relationships and to support one another. This group is for typical healthy couples (not for marriages that are in trouble). The group decides when to meet and where (though usually in homes). New groups will be formed as interest arises, and church membership is not required.

Faith Connections Small Group or Growing in Grace Groups - These groups can be quite varied, but the main purpose of the group is to gather with other Christians to share your faith, to build friendships and to help each other grow as Christians. Some meet monthly, some weekly, some every other week, some whenever the group can gather. Days, times and places vary according to the group's preferences. Groups can be created by age, marital status, neighborhood, or time of day. So they can be diverse or similar in make up - again by the preference of participants. Methods, models, activities, styles and curriculum are suggested, but ultimately the group chooses the agenda. Call for information or to find out when new groups are forming.

Support Groups

- A variety of groups are available to share in the life of the congregation. Some of those groups are particularly helpful for people in times of crisis or with particular personal needs. New groups are always forming, so please contact us if you have an interest or need that is not addressed here.

AA - Alcoholics Anonymous - Meets Monday through Saturday at noon. This group is not church sponsored, but is independently run, and uses our facility. New people are welcome. Traditional AA practices and perimeters apply.
