Participating in Worship PDF Print E-mail

Whether in the pews, leading prayer, reading scripture, singing or playing an instrument, youth are encouraged to participate in worship. Our youth are often engaged in leadership positions on a weekly basis.  Following are some of the Sundays in which are youth participate as a group.

Youth Sunday

Generally held in mid-spring, the youth lead worship for all 3 services on Youth Sunday. Seniors give sermons while all the youth put together a truly original service filled with a variety of music, drama, art, and creativity. This service is usually quite inspiring and is a great opportunity to invite friends with families!

Pentecost Sunday

Pentecost Sunday is when the church celebrates the gift of God's Spirit and at Grace Covenant we also celebrate youth who have participated in the year-long Confirmation course and wish to join the church. During the service they are recognized for their achievement and become members of the church. Most people have never experienced a worship service like this before where the congregation showers the new youth members of the church with Hershey Kisses - symbolic of our love and good wishes for them.

Sending Sunday

During communion on the first Sunday of August, those members of the church who will be away for the year, usually because of college or various graduate schools, are invited to the front to receive a special message and blessing from the pastors.

Easter Sunday

Easter at Grace Covenant is a joyful, even exuberant experience at Grace Covenant.  Members of our Confirmation Class are highly involved in parading with banners, butterflies, and even throwing confetti.
