We encourage youth to be partners in ministry. Here are a few of the ways our youth are leaders.

Elders

Up to two youth are able to serve for a year as active Elders on Session, the governing body of the local church. Session meets monthly and the youth serving on Session also serve on one or two other congregational teams. Elders have a voice in the church's vision, direction, and policy and are elected by the members of the church.

Serving on Teams

Youth may also serve on one of the many congregational teams we have such as worship, outreach, youth, and welcoming. The way many youth become members of a team is by expressing interest to the moderator of the team or the youth director.

Confirmation Mentors

Once in a while we have a Senior High youth who is interested in serving as a small-group mentor for other youth who are going through confirmation. Youth mentors co-serve with adult mentors for nine months in what is a truly rewarding process.

Youth Group Leadership 

Opportunities are prevalent during our weekly youth group activities for students to take on leadership roles among their peers.  Sometimes these opportunities are intentionally planned and other times they just happen.  One of the great things about being a part of a diverse yet Christ centered group like ours is that it is often easy to see God at work among youth in a variety of ways.

Parents and Other Adult Members in the Congregation

Without adults involved in our Youth Ministry in many meaningful ways our programs would not be nearly as numerous and not nearly as successful. Ski Trip Coordinators, Mission Trip Coordinators and Sponsors, Canoe Trip Coordinators, Youth Team Members, Sunday School Teachers, Youth Group Advisors, Confirmation Mentors, Musical Accompanists, Hosts for Youth Events, Food Buyers for Retreats and the list goes on. We are thankful for the adults who in many ways give time, support, enthusiasm, and commitment! Many sign up for these events at our Fall Parent Meeting: anyone can sign up at any time, however, by contacting the Youth Director.

All volunteers are screened according to our Child Protection Policy and agree to a background check.
